To ensure your resume is considered for as many opportunities as possible by our
managers, design your resume for maximum exposure with the following in mind:
- Describe your experience in concrete terms vs. conceptual phrases. For example, "managed a team" vs. "responsible for team development";
- Use an active voice ("developed a strategic marketing plan") vs. a passive voice ("worked on developing a strategic marketing plan");
- Use all words that are relevant to your work. For example, if you are an escrow officer, include all your escrow assistant and escrow officer experience, and technical jargon that is typically used in this field;
- Identify skills you have which are applicable to the positions you are seeking;
- Use as many pages as you need. Ease of readability is key;
- Always, always, be truthful.
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN YOU CREATE YOUR RESUME
- Will a manager see my main credentials within 10 to 15 seconds?
- Does critical information jump off the page?
- Do I effectively sell myself on the top quarter of the first page?
